What some analysts expect from budget , 25 Oct 2016 – Sowetan (Late Final),
FINANCE Minister Pravin Gordhan will deliver one of his toughest budget statements tomorrow with the aim of keeping international ratings agencies from downgrading South Africa to junk status. Officially referred to as a mediumterm budget policy statement, various government departments, state entities and interest groups will be hoping the finance minister gives them a larger slice of the budget cake while ratings agencies will be interested to see how he will curb spending and increase income. Head of Nedbank Corporate and Investment Bank's strategic research division, Mohammed Yaseen Nalla told Sowetan yesterday that Gordhan would be expected to continue indicating a.commitment to fiscal prudence.
