EURODOLLAR FOREIGN EXCHANGE, LEADERSHIP, Focus
EuroDollar Foreign Exchange (Pty) Ltd was incorporated in 2008 and licenced by the South African Reserve Bank as an Authorised Dealer in Foreign Exchange with Limited Authority in June 2010. The company's commitment to Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment and the codes of good practice is demonstrated by its shareholding structure where black persons own and control about 90% of the equity in the business.
Please tell us about your history with the company – how did you get to the role you occupy today? I am the founding CEO, having co-founded the company with a life-long friend, Roderick Wolfenden. We set up the business specifically to acquire a foreign exchange license and jointly worked on the business plan; put together a strong group of value adding shareholders and Denzil Chalmers, chief executive officer lodged our application with the South African Reserve Bank in July 2008. I came with the industry experience so the intention was always for me to assume a pivotal executive role. Almost two years after submitting the application and just as the memorable World Cup was about to draw to an end, we opened our doors to the public.
