DONOVAN CHIMHANDAMBA, THE AFRICAN PROFESSIONAL
Not many people in their early thirties can speak of cutting million dollar deals in a company they manage and co-own. Despite this, Donovan Chimhandamba (34) – CEO of the Johannesburg headquartered Arkein Group – cuts a fairly modest figure at his interview with The African Professional magazine.
Arkein apparently signifies leadership in the Greek dictionary, a trait exhibited by Donovan from an early age as the first born in a family of four who lost their parents in subsequent years when he was nine in rural Mashonaland, Zimbabwe. The late Chimhandamba senior was an engineer in the copper mining industry and mineral processing industry as well as a good golfer who passed away from cerebral malaria at the young age of thirty-three. Today his eldest son is the holder of a B.Eng (Hons) in Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering and boasts a mid-teen handicap in an office where professional staff play the sport two to three times a week.
