Development finance and SMME support, NORTH WEST BUSINESS
National government has created a new agency to spur the development of small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs), the Small Enterprise Finance Agency (sefa). According to research done by Absa, SMMEs were supporting 60% of the country's employable population in 2011, against a figure of just 18% in 1998. The new agency falls under the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC).
