A total of R35-million has been made available to a third-party cement blender to compete in a highly controlled, protected and competitive industry, while ensuring that the enterprise is sustainable. The advance to Value Cement was made by the National Empowerment Fund, Quarry SA learns. The company's core business is the blending of quality cement that is supplied for infrastructure development. The company's plant in Johannesburg, Gauteng, is claimed to be one of the most modern blending plants in the country and has sufficient capacity to service most of the provinces, as well as export markets. The plant is designed in such a manner that the current capacity can be tripled without a large capital expenditure.
