Winner of this year's PPS top professional woman award Lindiwe Hendricks, a former cabinet minister and East London homegirl, spoke to Siya Miti about her work empowering Eastern Cape rural people LINDIWE Hendricks, former minister of two portfolios —first water affairs and forestry and later minerals and energy — under former president Thabo Mbeki's administration, has just taken home the coveted Professional Provident Society (PPS) award for top professional woman of the year for her work in rural development. She has a passion for economically empowering rural people and she spoke to the Saturday Dispatch about life, being a minister, politics and the work she has been doing with rural youth that earned her the PPS award.
