Project summary

MiBT is constructing a 400 panels-per-shift (two shifts per day) full-scale manufacturing plant in Lyttleton, Pretoria, which will produce modular innovative (Mi) panels used in the construction of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly “green” buildings. The project is currently at pilot phase, with the plant operating at up to 50% capacity and sourcing off-take agreements. MiBT will pioneer the “green” building materials manufacturing industry in Southern Africa. MiBT has the highest Agrément-certified system in Africa, validated with nine applications for construction in terms of SANS 10 400 and the capability for the construction of buildings of up to four floors high, with the nearest competitors going to only two floors. MIBT is black-controlled and has attracted strong interest from potential customers in the construction industry in the SADC region.
