BECAUSE DFIs have a developmental role, their performance measurement goes beyond a standard financial measurement rather to encompass quantitative and qualitative non-financial indicators which evaluate their social and economic contribution. For this reason, and in the light of the global economic slowdown, Geoffrey Qhena, CEO of the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), argues that DFIs are more relevant than ever. “DFIs occupy a critical role that sits between government and the private sector.”
