In response to the article by Finweek Editor Marc Ashton on Finweek.com supporting the decision for the National Empowerment Fund (NEF) to back entrepreneur Khanyi Dhlomo and her luxury goods store. I am a very good, skilful guy in woodwork and I make desks and chairs and do kitchen schemes and ceiling boards. I grew up in a rural area, am black and am unemployed. I need capital in order to start a business in woodwork — where on earth will I find a 10% contribution to get a loan from the NEF or IDC? You can't sit in a fancy office in Sandton and make statements like that.
