First new coaches to arrive in 2015 as PRASA closes R51bn deal, Polity.org.za – Polity
The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) and Gibela Rail Transportation announced on Tuesday that it had achieved commercial close on the contract to supply the State agency with 600 commuter trains (3 600 coaches) over the next ten years.
The deal would play a vital role in revitalising the ailing Metrorail passenger rail network.
The R51-billion contract to supply the trains was signed in October last year.
